Diamond Education
The value of a diamond is determined by its quality and individual characteristics. Naturally you will want the best quality diamond you can afford. Before you buy a diamond it is best to have an understanding of what you are buying, so that you are able to make an informed decision. Learn about cut, clarity color and carat weight. These qualities are what defines a diamond and are known as the 4 C’s. Obtaining knowledge and an understanding about the 4 C’s is an important first step towards buying the right diamond.
Diamond 4Cs
Various characteristics of diamonds are graded and categorized by the diamond industry. Learning about diamonds is first learning about the “four Cs” of diamonds which are considered the most important grades and categories: Cut, Clarity, Color, Carat weight. These are the criteria jewelers use when grading diamonds, and they’re the ones you’ll need to understand to buy the right diamond for you.

To find your ring size, you can use the ring sizer in the PDF file, or measure a ring that fits, we recommand using the chart in the PDF file.

CERTIFICATION
The diamond certificate, which is sometimes called a grading report, a diamond dossier or a diamond quality document, is a complete evaluation of your diamond that has been performed by a qualified professional with the help of special gemological instruments. Its purpose is to offer you the highest possible level of security and confidence. It confirms the diamond’s authenticity and describes its essential characteristics or ‘ 4 Cs’:
- Cut
- Color
- Clarity
- Carat
Not just anyone can grade a diamond. It needs to be examined by expert gemmologists, under strict regulations and using specialised equipment. El Hage Jewelers believes that all customers need to be informed correctly about the diamonds they buy. That is why we also examine whether a diamond has been subject to any unreported treatments in order to alter its appearance or whether it is synthetic, meaning that it was not born millions of years ago in nature, but in a laboratory.
